Sacred Heart Residents Visit Dickeyville Grotto and Shrine for Prayer and Reflection

Sacred Heart Residents Visit Dickeyville Grotto and Shrine for Prayer and Reflection

Earlier this week a group of residents from Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake made a road trip to the southwest corner of Wisconsin to visit the Dickeyville Grotto and Shrine. Located on the grounds of Holy Ghost Parish in Dickeyville, the shrine and grotto were built by Fr. Matthias Wernerus, a German-American priest who served the parish from 1918 until his death in 1931. The structures are a unique mix of mortar and stone, as well as a hodgepodge of colorful objects from around the world. Click here to learn more.

The SHML visitors walked the grounds and held a prayer service. Br. Clay Diaz, SCJ (red shirt in the picture above), did the scripture reading.
