Monasterio del Sagrado Corazón
El nuevo Monasterio del Sagrado Corazón, fue construido en 1968, hospeda a más de 100 sacerdotes, hermanos y seminaristas. El antiguo monasterio se encontraba directamente al cruzar de la carretera del nuevo edificio. Los primeros Sacerdotes del SCJ llegaron desde Alemania y se estableciéndose en Hales Corners en 1929.
The Sacred Heart of the Monastery
Sacred Heart Monastery is the central headquarters of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in the United States. The Monastery also houses the Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology that is also regognized as Americas top choice for preparing older candidates for priestly ordination.
Each season of the year has its own majesty and wonder. The grounds of the Sacred Heart Monastery display the beauty of southeastern Wisconsin.
Even the apparent deadness of winter reveals grandeur and beauty.
The building was constructed and dedicated in 1968. It is located on 80 wooded acres at the outskirts of Milwaukee just 90 miles north of Chicago.
Sacred Heart Chapel is the center of the community’s prayer life. The Eucharistic Liturgy and the Liturgy of the Hours are the focal point in the daily schedule of the seminarians.
The Sacred Heart Chapel is the heart of the seminary life.
The Berghaus Organ by the Altar was dedicated in 1995. The rich organ accompaniment adds to the solemnity of the prayer life.
The beautiful, tranquil setting of the Sacred Heart Shrine draws all to the Heart of Mercy and compassion.
The Leo Dehon Library offers a comprehensive 100,000 volume theological and scriptural collection with special strengths in the areas of Sacred Heart Devotion, Church History, social justice and cannon law. It is enhanced by extensive holdings in philosophy literature and the arts.
Seminarians are sponsored by Catholic dioceses and religious orders across the United States and other lands. Seminarians range in age from the late 20s to late 60s.
The students at the Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology represent great diversity in racial and ethnic backgrounds. Our ESL program (English-as-a-Second-Language) attracts students from around the world and helps prepare them to serve the Church in American and foreign missions.
The Master of Arts in Theology programs prepare lay men and women for positions of service in the church.
Academic and Spiritual Formation Programs, together with Pastoral opportunities in the Milwaukee Archdiocese, help prepare seminarians for the priesthood.
As part of a multi-year renovation program, new driveways, parking areas, lighting and landscaping have brought improved accessibility and visibility to the Monastery’s entryway, while maintain the design aesthetic of the campus grounds. The Monastery’s newly updated entrance and lobby welcome guests and seminarians alike with bright, spacious comfort.
A new recreation space was completed in 2016, offering seminarians a great spot to get together and relax after a long day of study and prayer.
