Earlier in September, the US Province of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (the Dehonians) celebrated the golden jubilee of 50 years of vowed life for Fr. Bob Bossie and Br. Leonard Zaworski.
Fr. Bob spent most of his ministry working on social justice issues 8th Day Center in Chicago. Supported by the teachings of Fr. Dehon, Founder of the Priest of the Sacred Heart, Fr. Bob advocated for the poor and minority populations in Chicago and throughout the world. He stated that “justice as a ministry is the fullest expression of Fr. Dehon’s call for reparation. To have a preference for the poor is to identify with Christ”. Fr. Bob is shown with the Vice-Rector of Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology, Fr. Zbigniew “Ziggy” Morawiec, SCJ.
Br. Lenny did similar work, serving as a community activist in the Rio Grande Valley, helping to give a voice to the poor. “We helped them to find the courage to participate in the system, to seek change.” He later worked in overseas missions in India and recently in Vietnam. He even learned how to read braille to help translate The Word to life for those whom have visual impairments.
Let the Priests of the Sacred Heart pray for your loved ones and intentions.
