Vietnamese community 40 years

The Vietnamese worship community in Milwaukee recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Since 2007, this special group has been part of St. Martin of Tours Parish in Franklin, Wisconsin, which is ministered by the Priests of the Sacred Heart. Fr. Joseph Quang Tran, SCJ is the current pastor to the Vietnamese community in Milwaukee and the associate pastor of St. Martin of Tours. Fr. Terry Langley, SCJ is the pastor of St. Martin of Tours. Among the former pastors are Fr. Anthony Russo, SCJ and Fr. Yvon Sheehy, SCJ.

The Dehonians keep the traditions of this unique culture alive by offering a Mass every Sunday in Vietnamese and teaching the language to the children. Special feast days for St. Therese in October and Our Lady of Lavang in November are also celebrated. A particularly important Feast Day is for the 117 Vietnamese Martyrs who were canonized by Pope John Paull II on June 19, 1988.
