We are pastors in urban and rural parishes. We are involved in teaching, counseling, chaplaincies, and social justice concerns. We are engaged in seminary education and religious formation. In all that we do and to all whom we serve, we strive to bring the love of the Heart of Jesus.
A Message from Father Paul
Dear Friend of the Sacred Heart,
In today's world, we seem to be busier than ever. Yet, I often wonder if we accomplish any more than we did in the less hectic years of the past.
It is more important than ever for us to center on those things which are most important, especially on our relationship with God. To help me do this, I often turn to brief prayers which help me focus on God's presence in my life.
Over the centuries, the Church has developed many such prayers. I am sure you know many of them. A less known list of short prayers was written by Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in the 17th century. I would like to share them with you.
Hail, Heart of Jesus, save me!
Hail, Heart of my Creator, perfect me!
Hail, Heart of my Savior, deliver me!
Hail, Heart of my Judge, grant me pardon!
Hail, Heart of my Father, govern me!
Hail, Heart of my Master, teach me!
Hail, Heart of my King, be my crown!
Hail, Heart of my Benefactor, enrich me!
Hail, Heart of my Shepherd, guard me!
Hail, Heart of my Friend, comfort me!
Hail, Heart of my Brother, stay with me!
Hail, Heart of the Child Jesus, draw me to Yourself!
Hail, Heart of Jesus dying on the Cross, redeem me!
Hail, Heart of Jesus in all Thy states, give Yourself to me!
Hail, Heart of incomparable goodness, have mercy on me!
Hail, Heart of splendor, shine within me!
Hail, most loving Heart, inflame me!
Hail, most merciful Heart, work within me!
Hail, most humble Heart, dwell within me!
Hail, most patient Heart, support me!
Hail, most faithful Heart, be my reward!
Hail, most admirable and most worthy Heart, bless me!
You may pray them all together or choose one line to repeat often in the course of a day. Whatever approach you take, please remember to turn often to the loving Heart of Christ in your daily life.
