Dear Friend of the Sacred Heart,

                 A friend of mine called the other day.  He was feeling down because he already broke his New Year’s resolution.  I told him not to worry.  He could always renew his resolution by making it his penance for Lent.

               Later, I thought that I should have suggested a new resolution, one which comes from the Little Flower: “One word or a pleasing smile is often enough to raise up a saddened and wounded soul.”

As the New Year continues to unfold its mysteries and we approach Lent, this might be a good practice for all of us.  It is a wonderful way to obey Christ’s command to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 19:19).

            On behalf of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, I want to thank you very much for your friendship.You are an important part of our ministry in the Church, helping us to serve God’s neglected and poor children. 

              You and your intentions will be remembered in our daily Masses and prayers.

            May the Sacred Heart smile upon you with His loving care and bless you and your loved ones with His peace and joy.
